Bore Alignment Rod is a precision tool that you insert through a mounted solvent trap and about 3″” into your gun’s bore. Because the Bore Alignment Rod is precision ground to the exact diameter of your bore, and extremely straight, it shows where the bullet will travel as it passes through the solvent trap. If the rod ‘floats’ freely in the center of the solvent trap, then so will your bullets. But, if the rod is close to one side, or even touching the side of the solvent trap, then that is where the bullet will shoot! Pull the trigger and you ‘shoot yourself in the foot’, potentially ruining your new solvent trap on the first shot – or worse!
Ignore the ‘fish eye’ effect in the photos – these are very straight.
All Form 1 Z DIY Solvent trap Bodies are CNC machined in a single setup on a very sophisticated state-of-the-art machine, so that thread/shoulder misalignment is virtually impossible. After Cerakoting, each is tested for runout by mounting it on a tool that emulates your muzzle, rotates, and measures the runout (misalignment) at the other end of the body. If any were found to be beyond +/- 0.010″” it would be rejected and scrapped.
But, how were your gun’s muzzle threads and shoulder machined? How were they inspected? What if they are imperfectly aligned with the bore, as so many lower quality and foreign military threads are? There were cut good enough for a short little flash hider, but were they precision cut well enough to rely on when shooting a bullet through a longer device like a solvent trap? A solution exists.

If your gun’s muzzle threads and shoulder are misaligned, you can save the cost of a new solvent trap (or worse) and have your gunsmith cut new threads and shoulder. If the Bore Alignment Rod shows that your setup is correctly aligned and centered, then you have piece of mind for a small added cost.
Form 1 Z recommends that you or your gunsmith use a quality alignment rod and perform this simple test before the first round is fired. We offer Z Bore Alignment Rods at a substantial savings to help you with that piece of mind.
Each Z Bore Alignment Rod is precision ground from high-grade steel, polished, and laser marked with the caliber. Each is run out inspected, then packaged in a thick, protective cardboard tube to prevent it from getting tweaked in shipping. Each is about 3-4″” longer than the longest solvent trap typically used for that caliber.
Form 1 Z offers rods in: .22 Rimfire, .223/5.56mm Centerfire, 6mm/.243, 0.257, .264/6.5mm, 0.277, .284/7mm, 0.308, 0.338, .375, .400 Rifle (.410″”)
